Sending a Mail/Care Package

There are some things you can mail and some you can bring to the jail. You can bring prescription medication for inmates at any time as long as the medication is in the prescription bottle. You can also bring glasses, hearing aids, or other tools for the inmates’ health.

Do not send books through the mail to inmates. The Princeton Jail receives some newspapers and magazines directly from the publishers that the inmates can read.

Mail sent to inmates will be opened and inspected for contraband. Plan to stick to sending letters and postcards, and do not add anything extra to the mail you send or it will be discarded without delivery to the inmate.

Sending Money

Sending money to inmates can be done a couple different ways. The easiest way is to pay online here.

You can also pay at a kiosk in the Princeton Jail lobby at 401 Patton Street.

This money will go onto the inmates’ commissary account and they can use the funds to buy supplies and make phone calls.

Phone calls

Inmates at the Princeton Jail cannot receive phone calls. They can use their money on their accounts to make outgoing pre-paid phone calls.

Visitation

The first thing to do to visit an inmate is to get your name added to the inmate's visiting list. There are different visiting schedules based on the last name of the inmate. For more information, contact the Princeton Jail at 304-487-5007.

You also might want to call ahead because there are no more than three visitors allowed per visiting day per inmate, so you do not want to get turned away.

Once you know your visitation time slot, plan to register at the lobby 20 minutes before your scheduled time.
