Bell county jail is a medium-security jail located in Belton, Texas. It was built in 1976 and serves as the main jail for detaining pretrial inmates, mentally unstable, and those serving misdemeanor sentences of less than a year. 

It has equal treatment of all adult inmates in jail without discrimination. There is a health officer who is tasked with treatment for the inmates incarcerated at the jail. Inmates can benefit from the numerous programs offered at the jail that help to reform the inmates for faster integration into society.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Bell county jail encourages correspondence between inmates and people outside the jail. However, inmates are not allowed to write to each other. All the mail sent to the jail will be inspected before the inmate and must have a legal marking before it is allowed in.  Packages that are impossible to inspect without destruction will be returned to the sender. Cash, money orders, and a check will not be allowed into the jail. Only mail with the full addresses of both the sender and the recipient will be delivered.

The office is equipped with modern technology, including police vehicles and computers, to help it arrest criminals and keep the streets safe. 

Sending Money

Bell county has a vibrant commissary scheme. The commissary helps the inmates to buy necessities from the canteen. Some items in the jail canteen are clothing, such as socks and underwear. It may also be necessary for inmates to pay for the phone calls.   Depositing money into the inmate's commissary account is relatively straightforward. Simply use any jail ATM in the lobby to get the vital cash to your loved one. You can deposit cash, a money order check, or a credit card to deposit money in the inmate's commissary account. 

Phone calls

All detainees have a right to make phone calls. The calls service is provided as call collection through Securus. Inmates are allied to make calls but cannot receive any calls. Only the jail administration may receive the calls in case of an emergency on the number 254-933-5400.  You have to set up an account with Securus before you can receive calls from a loved one. You may require the inmate's full name and the inmate number to set up an account. Well-wishers can deposit airtime in the inmate's account directly. 

Visitation

All inmates are entitled to two onsite video visitations. The visitation must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. All visits last 45 minutes each. There are no visits on Mondays. You can however see your loved ones on Tuesday through Sunday from 8:15 am to 4 pm. Guests and inmates must conduct themselves properly to avoid having the visit confined.
