FCI Sandstone is a medium security facility that also has an adjacent camp that is considered minimum security. The FCI Sandstone is located in Minnesota, just 43 miles east of Sandstone, can house up to 1157 total inmates between the medium security facility and the satellite camp. Adult women reside at this facility. In 2000, this facility was turned into one that could house women, as that region of the country was running out of room to store female inmates.
