Genesee county is the main jail in Genesee County that works alongside the Flint City Lockup. It has the largest county jail in Michigan and may hold up to 640 inmates. It is designated as a regional minimum security jail and houses male inmates that have been found guilty of misdemeanors or have been arrested and awaiting trials or sentencing.
The county sheriff supervises the jail and runs a 90-member staff. The jail is modern and includes GED, computer education, and financial and anger management programs to help the inmates prepare for life outside the jail’s walls.
