Sending a Mail/Care Package

Genessee encourages loved ones to exchange mail and care packages with loved ones at the jail. You can contact the jail administration for a list of approved items you can send by mail. Ordinary letters are approved, help the inmates keep in touch with family, and have been proven to help improve reformation.  Mail should have the full inmate address of the sender and the inmate. All mail will be inspected before it is sent to the inmates. Do not send any cash in the mail.

Sending Money

Commissary is a vital part of the inmate's life as it can help them to acquire different necessary items at the jail canteen. Genesee county makes it easy for anyone to support the inmates by sending cash through the GTL Connect Network through Viapath. The commissary can also be used for communicating with loved ones. You can also make a deposit by calling 888-988-4768 and depositing cash any time of the day.

Phone calls

Inmates arrested or serving a sentence at Genesee county jail have a right to call their loved ones. All the calls are made in the housing areas. Inmates are not allowed to receive any calls directly. The staff cannot receive any urgent messages on behalf of the inmates.  You can set up an account with Securus technology to receive calls from the inmates at the jail. You will need the inmate's full name and the inmate number to set up an account. You can make a deposit on the telephone provider to help the inmate make calls.
