Bristol County Jail in Massachusetts was built in 1997 and can hold more than 200 inmates at any given time. Mostly, federal and state inmates stay at this site, as well as some state-sentenced criminals. There are some education services available to inmates to help them learn skills that will help them reenter society successfully at the conclusion of their sentencing.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Do not send any packages in the mail to an inmate. You can have paperback books sent to an inmate from one of the approved venders. The books must be sent from the publisher and not from a third party.

You can have books sent from Barnes& Noble, Books aMillion, or Amazon, and books can not be more than 3 inches thick. Do not send more than 3 books at a time to an inmate due to storage and space concerns.

You can send standard white postcards to inmates. Be advised, any mail going into the facility will be opened, screened, and read by jail staff prior to delivery to an inmate.

Sending Money

To send money to an inmate’s commissary account, visit a kiosks in the visitation lobby and the main lobby of the Bristol County Jail. There are instructions for you to follow at each kiosk machine.

Phone calls

Inmates cannot receive phone calls, and jail staff members cannot deliver messages to inmates. That said, inmates can make outgoing phone calls. They will need a prepaid account setup, which you can do online by clicking here.

Visitation

Inmates at the Bristol County Jail can have up to a one hour visit every week. Since visitation space is limited, you must schedule any and all visits the visitation office.

Plan to schedule a visit Mnday thru Friday between 9:00 am to 4:00pm or on Saturdays between 12:00 noon and 4:00pm. You can also call 508-996-6704 if you have any questions about visitations. If you are more than 15 minutes late to a visit, the visit will be cancelled and you will need to reschedule.

When you visit, plan to dress conservatively and no not bring any contraband materials into the Bristol County Jail, or you will be turned away and restricted from visiting inmates.
