You cannot send stamps to inmates at the Metro Transitional Center, but you can provide them money to purchase stamps at the canteen. You can also set up books, magazines, and newspapers to be sent directly from the publishers to the inmate. Do not send these items yourself.
Sending Money
You can deposit up to $500 for an inmate while you are visiting them. Use the Metro Transitional Center kiosk in the building where you are visiting. You can click here for more information on depositing money while you are visiting an inmate.
You can also send money to an inmate by a postal money order or cashier’s check. Make these payable to the inmate.

Make sure you write the inmate’s full name and inmate number on the money order or cashier’s chek before you send it. Do not address the envelope to the inmate, it must go through the cashier. Do not send cash or personal checks.
Phone calls
Inmates at the Metro Transitional Center cannot receive phone calls. They can make outgoing calls, and they will use their commissary accounts to pay for them, which you can add money to as outlined above.
Visitation
You will need to get on the approved visitor list. Inquire at the Metro Transitional Center as to how to do that, or ask the inmate to get you added to his list.
Plan to visit on Saturdays or Sundays between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m, but you will need to arrive before 2:30 p.m.
Any approved visitor can visit up to twice per month for up to three hours at each visit.
Visitations at the Metro Transitional Center are a privilege, not a right, and visitations can be shut down at any time. It is best to call ahead before visiting, and make sure you plan to dress conservatively.
