Located in Denver, Colorado, this is a temporary holding facility and processing center. It is designed for subjects who have been arrested and are awaiting an initial court appearance by a judge. Typically, prisoners are held in the Denver Jail – District 2 for less than 24 hours. Nearly 18,500 prisoners are processed at the Denver Jail – District 2 every year. Since it is a temporary holding facility, it does not have much of the same amenities as other jails and prisons. You cannot send inmates mail, or visit them, since they are not on-site for very long.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

To send mail, you will need to find out where the location is being held after his stay at the holding facility. He will not be at the Denver Jail - District 2 long enough to receive mail. You can inquire about release information after the prisoner’s court appearance by calling 720-913-1000.

Sending Money

Similar to sending mail to an inmate, you will need to find out the prisoner’s next lodging assignment before you can set up and send money to a prisoner, as most inmates are not at this facility for long. Call 720-913-1000 to find out where a prisoner is heading and where to send him money.

Phone calls

Prisoners can usually make one free phone call during the booking process, and should use that to call an attorney or to notify a friend or family member of where they are located. Inmates cannot receive incoming phone calls, and will not be at the Denver Jail - District 2 long enough to establish an account for making outbound phone calls.

Visitation

You might be able to watch the scheduled court appearance of an inmate. If an inmate has been charged with a misdemeanor, his court session will be viewable by the public. If the prisoner has been booked on a felony charge, call the Denver County Jail Information line, to find out where and when the inmate is being transferred to a different facility. You will not be able to visit him at the Denver Denver Jail - District 2.
